Business representatives together with policy makers and scientists will present their top priorities for a new treaty and articulate what they believe must be achieved in Copenhagen next year. What does business believe is paramount to include in a new climate treaty?

The Copenhagen Climate Council is an independent global initiative that brings together leading policy makers, business leaders, and scientists focused on helping achieve a clear and effective global treaty in Copenhagen, in December 2009.

At the side event, Council representatives will present their 3 key principles for a new treaty to engage in dialogue with the audience on the business response to a post-2012 framework.

These thoughts will then feed into the development of the final recommendations delivered by international business leaders at the World Business Summit on Climate Change on 24-26 May 2009 and finally delivered to the host of the COP15 in order for them to bring the recommendations into the negotiation process.

After the discussion, the Danish Lead Negotiator, Thomas Becker, will give his concluding remarks.

Panel participants:

  • Tim Flannery, Chairman of the Copenhagen Climate Council, author of The Weather Makers
  • Jerry Stokes, President Suntech Europe (Solar)
  • Steve Harper, Global Director Environment and Energy Policy, Intel (ICT)
  • Susanne Stormer, Vice President Global TBL Management, Novo Nordisk (Health Care)
