United Nations Foundation

The United Nations Foundation, a public charity, was created in 1998 with entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner's historic $1 billion gift to support U.N. causes and activities. The UN Foundation is an advocate for the U.N. and a platform for connecting people, ideas and resources to help the United Nations solve global problems. We help the U.N. take its best work and ideas to scale – through advocacy, partnerships, constituency building, and fund-raising.

The U.N. Foundation's Energy and Climate Change program has worked for 10 years to help transition the world toward a clean, climate-friendly energy future. We promote access to and the delivery of clean energy services, nurture renewable energy enterprises, and advance policies to scale up these solutions globally. Our work has fostered adoption of national and global energy efficiency goals and advanced creative ideas for new international agreements to prevent unmanageable climate changes and adapt to unavoidable impacts.

Working method

The U.N. Foundation has emerged as a respected platform for bringing together environmentalists, economists, business leaders, and the U.N. to reach consensus strategies on confronting climate change, accelerating energy efficiency, and promoting clean energy access.
