Jens is owner of and CEO of Umoe AS, which covers a wide set of activities from shipping, the oil and offshore business, lifesaving equipment production and service, real estate, ITsolutions for the health sector and a new, significant investment in solar and bio ethanol energies. The Umoe group has more than 6500 employees and its companies represent a turnover of about USD 1200 million in 2007. Umoe acts as an active long-term owner and investor. The group aims to develop companies through organic growth, acquisitions and restructuring. Umoe wants to contribute more than just capital in their companies. Previously Jens worked for McKinsey & Company in New York and was managing director of tanker company Asterix Shipping prior to establishing Umoe AS.
